(continuation of Laura Spencer trial)

“Yes; but the reason I changed my name was to get away from the past of what my father did”, Kate said.

“Can you explain”, Rachel asked?

“My father was a part of a plot to kidnap and kill my daughter, Melanie Corbin”, Kate said.

“Okay moving on; do you believe Mrs. Spencer’s claim that she was only getting justice for her son’s death”, Rachel asked?

No I do not, Kate said.

Why don’t you, Rachel asked?

Mainly because she read the police reports. My daughter was not responsible for what happened to her son, Kate said.

Mz. Howard; I would like to play the same phone conversations that I played for Mr. Corinthos for you, and have you tell me how you feel about what was said, Rachel said before pressing play…

“Is she dead”?

“She will be”. “The men I hired messed up, but that will be rectified soon”.

“Good, Elizabeth Webber is the reason that my family is in shambles”!

“We’ll both get what we want out of this arrangement”.

“You get to see Elizabeth Webber dead, and I get what is mine”.

“Did you know that she is involved with Jason Morgan”?

“I feel very afraid that Mrs. Spencer will continue to try to kill my daughter”. “She no doubt is a twisted sick individual”, Kate said.

“Mz. Howard what would you say if I told you that Mrs. Spencer knew that Elizabeth was your daughter months before her son’s death”, Rachel asked?

“What I want to say would not be appropriate”, Kate said. “How did she find out”?

“That is what we’ll find out when I question Mrs. Spencer on the stand”, Rachel said.

“Nothing further your honor”, Rachel said.

“Mz. Howard”, Holmes said.

“Mr. Holmes”, Kate replied.

“Do you know the Spencer family personally”, Holmes asked?

“No”, Kate said.

“So you never met Lucky Spencer”, Holmes asked?

“No I did not”, Kate said.

“Do you wish Mrs. Spencer harm”, Holmes asked?

“No; I just hate her for wanting my little girl death for what happened to her son; which wasn’t Elizabeth’s fault”, Kate said,

“No further questions your honor”, Holmes said.

“You are excused Mz Howard”, the judge said.

Kate returned to her seat next to Sonny and Audrey.

“The prosecution calls Commissioner Mac Scorpio to the stand”, Rachel said.

Mac is escorted to the stand by the bailiff…

“Please stand”. “Raise your right hand”. “Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God”, the clerk said?

“I do”, Mac said.

“Please state your name for the record”. “And spell your last name for the court”, the clerk asked?

“Mac Scorpio; S-c-o-r-p-i-o”, Mac said.

“Please be seated”, the clerk said.

“Commissioner; can you please explain to use where this video and audio footage is from and when”, Rachel asked?

“The footage you are about to play is from the video and audio surveillance system at Kelly’s diner here in Port Charles; and it is from the day that Laura Spencer took the diner hostage, and planned to kill Elizabeth Hardy”, Mac said.

Rachel then pressed play on the tv remote…

Elizabeth sat down and started to enjoy her lunch…

“No one move”, Laura said as she walked in and grabbed Elizabeth by the hair.

“Laura you need to come out now”, Mac said. “Let everyone go”.

“No; they are going to witness Elizabeth paying for her part in Lucky’s death”, Laura said.

“I can’t let you do that Laura”, Mac said. “Elizabeth was not responsible for Lucky’s death”.

“What are you going to do to stop me”, Laura yelled?

“Whatever I have to”, Mac said. “Come out Laura”.

“Laura, explain to me why you believe Elizabeth is responsible for Lucky’s death”, Mac said.

“Because she was the reason they were walking through the park”, Laura said.

“How do you know that”, Mac asked as Jason made his approach?

“Elizabeth refused to go home with Lucky”. “She thought she was too good to spend the night with my son”, Laura said right before Jason subdued her.

“Laura Spencer, you are under arrest”, Mac said.

“Did Mrs. Spencer remain silent after she was arrested”, Rachel asked?

“No; she did not”, Mac said.

“What did she say”, Rachel asked?

“I will finish what I started”. “You will die”. “Even though your sister failed, I won’t”, Laura vowed. “Hell yes I knew”. “And I want her dead as much as Sarah does”, Laura said. “Enjoy your days while you can Elizabeth because I will see you dead”.

“Okay; let’s move on to the conversations that were played earlier”. “Did you recognize the two voices”, Rachel asked?

“Yes; they were Laura Spencer and Sarah Webber”, Mac said.

“Thank you”. “Nothing further your honor”, Rachel said.

“Have you known Mrs. Spencer very long”, Holmes asked?

“Long enough”, Mac said.

“Did the evidence prove that Elizabeth hardy wasn’t responsible for what happened to young Lucky”, Holmes asked?

“Yes it proved that she had nothing to do with it”. “It was a group of college students”, Mac said.

“Thank you”, Holmes said.

“Redirect your honor”, Rachel asked?

“Go ahead”, the judge said…

“Commissioner; I would like you to listen to these records and then I have a couple of questions”, Rachel said before pressing play…

“From listening to them; no I don’t believe that Laura Spencer is mentally ill”. “From these records, I can hear that she well thought out her plan to kill Elizabeth Hardy”. “And that she has every intention of making sure that Ms. Hardy does indeed end up dead”, Mac stated.

“Thank you commissioner”, Rachel said.

“Commissioner Scorpio you are excused”, the judge said.

“The prosecution calls Barbara Jean Jones to the stand”, Rachel said.

Bobbie is escorted to the stand by the bailiff…

“Please stand. Raise your right hand. Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God”, the clerk stated?

“I do”, Bobbie said.

“Please be seated”, the clerk said.

“What is your relationship to the defendant”, Rachel asked?

“She’s my sister in law”, Bobbie said.

“Do you agree with your sister in law’s assumption that Elizabeth Hardy was responsible for your nephew’s death”, Rachel asked?

“No I do not”, Bobbie said.

“Does Mrs. Spencer and your brother know how you feel”, Rachel asked?

“Yes; and she and my brother are not happy about it”, Bobbie said.

“Did you know that your sister in law had hired men to kill Ms. Hardy”, Rachel asked?

“No I didn’t”. “And I don’t believe the theory that she is mentally ill either”. “She knew what she was doing when she planned to do this”, Bobbie said.

“Were you shocked to find out that she was working with someone else”, Rachel asked?

“No”. “She has been influenced by my brother”. “He has had delusions of vengeance since Helena came to town all those years ago”, Bobbie said.

“Nothing further”, Rachel said.

“Mr. Holmes”, the judge said?

“Nothing at this time; but I reserve the right to recall this witness at a later time”, Holmes said.

“Mrs. Jones you are excused”, the judge said. “We will recess until tomorrow at 9 am”.

“All rise”, the bailiff said before the judge left the courtroom.

“Luke; where was Nikolas”, Laura asked? “Why wasn’t he here”?

“I think you know as well as I do why Nikolas was not here dear wife”, Luke answered.

“You have to do something”, Laura demanded!

“Like what Laura”? “You were told what Nik did; as well as what he was planning”. “What did you expect to happen”, Luke asked?

“I will not allow you to talk about my son that way”. “That was Elizabeth’s fault; not Nikolas’ and I will not believe otherwise”, Laura stated.


Chapter 47


Later that evening @ Madison Estate:

“The kids are down”, Elizabeth said entering their bedroom.

“What do you think of what’s come out so far”, Jason asked?

“It’s what I expected of Laura and Sarah; but it’s Nik that I’m not quite sure about”. “I thought he was my friend”, Elizabeth said.

“I know”, Jason replied.

“And poor Emily”. “Nik’s been using her”. “How did we not see this”, Elizabeth asked?

“Nikolas was taught by the best, his grandmother; Helena, and she taught him well”, Jason said.

“I know it”. “Helena should be proud”, Elizabeth said.

“Do you want to see him”, Jason asked?

“Yes”, Elizabeth said. “He owes me some answers”.

“Tomorrow night”, Jason said.

“Okay”, Elizabeth said as she and Jason snuggled.

“Tell me what you meant mother”, Sarah yelled from her cell.

“Sarah”, Diana started…

“Now mother”, Sarah ordered.

“Alright”, Diana screamed…

“I’m waiting”, Sarah said.

Georgia and Laura were watching and listening; they knew that they were in for a really good show.

“The truth is; Jeff Webber was not your father”, Diana said.

“Then who the hell is; and why did you lie to me and everyone else all these years”, Sarah demanded?

“Deke Mattinson”, Diana said.

“Who the hell is he”, Sarah demanded?

When Diana didn’t answer; Laura did: “he’s Sonny’s ex stepfather”. “And from what I’ve heard he’s a monster”.

“Why”, Sarah said?

“Why what”, Diana threw back?

“Why did you get involved with someone like that”? “And what about Jeff”, Sarah asked?

“Because your… I meant Jeff didn’t love me and no longer wanted me”, Diana said.

“Then why the hell did you stay”, Sarah questioned?

“Because I wasn’t going to let Jeff win”, Diana said.

“Well what about that brat”, Sarah said arching a brow?

“She was a monumental mistake”, Diana said.

“What were you really supposed to do with her”, Sarah asked?

“I was supposed to use poison from the hospital; and kill her with it”, Diana said.

“Then why the hell didn’t you”, Sarah yelled?

“Because I wanted more children”, Diana said.

“Why weren’t Steven and I enough for you mother”, Sarah demanded?

“Because she wanted to keep Jeff from leaving her; taking his money with him”, Georgia spewed.

“That still doesn’t explain why you didn’t kill that brat like you were supposed to”, Sarah questioned?

“I didn’t because Jeff loved her”, Diana yelled!

“So if I’m not Jeff Webber’s daughter; then all that money isn’t mine”. “I tried to kill someone for absolutely nothing. “I’ll be going on trial and possibly going to prison; and its all for nothing”, Sarah said looking at her mother. “This is all your fault mother”!

“Why is it my fault”, Diana demanded?

“Because you lied to me about who my father is”. “You never intended to tell me the truth did you”, Sarah accused?

“No; and I’ve worked very hard all these years to make sure that it never came out”, Diana said.

“Well too bad for you; because now it has, and I hate you”, Sarah said walking to the opposite end of the cell. Looking over at her mother she then said: “You’re in the same boat I am”. “You’re not going to get out of this either”.

Diana didn’t reply. Unfortunately her daughter was right. She wasn’t getting out of this.

“The people call Jason Morgan to the stand”, Rachel said.

“Raise your right hand. Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God”, the clerk said?

“I do”, Jason said.

“Mr. Morgan; to begin I would like you to take us back to the night that Lucky Spencer was killed; can you tell me where you were”, Rachel asked?

“I was at my grandmother’s home; visiting with her”, Jason said.

“And when Elizabeth Hardy was brought into the ER”, Rachel asked?

“My sister called me and I rushed to General Hospital”, Jason said.

“What was your relationship with Miss Hardy at that time”, Rachel asked?

“A friend wanting more”, Jason said.

“Mr. Morgan”, Rachel started…

“I know that she was a minor”. “That’s why I waited. Her grandparents both knew”, Jason said.

“How was Elizabeth after the attack”, Rachel asked?

“Traumatized and in shock”, Jason said.

“How did the Spencer family react to the news about their son”, Rachel asked?

“Mrs. Spencer didn’t take it very well”, Jason said. “There was a lot of yelling at people; as far as I was concerned she was blaming everyone else but those really responsible for what happened to her son”.

“Okay; now let’s move on to the day that Miss Hardy was shot and injured at the No Name”. “Can you tell us what happened”, Rachel asked?

“We had taken Elizabeth out to lunch”. “It was supposed to keep her distracted until her party later that evening”, Jason said.

“We”, Rachel asked?

“Sonny Corinthos, Kate Howard and myself”, Jason said.

“Party for what”, Rachel asked?

“Elizabeth’s 19th birthday”, Jason replied.

“So what happened”, Rachel asked?

“We were just starting dessert when gunmen walked in and started shooting”, Jason said.

“Did you know then that Miss Hardy was the intended target”, Rachel asked?

“No we didn’t”, Jason said. “We thought that is was just random; or someone after Sonny or I”.

“When did you find out”, Rachel asked?

“We found out while Elizabeth was in surgery”. “Commissioner Scorpio and Lt. Taggart came and informed us”, Jason said.

“Is that when you also found out that Miss Hardy was in fact your partner’s daughter with Ms. Howard”, Rachel asked?

“Yes it was”. “Sonny and Kate gave blood”. “The lab at General Hospital noticed the similarities”, Jason said.

“What were you doing the day the defendant took Kelly’s diner hostage”, Rachel asked?

“I was on my way to meet Elizabeth for dinner”, Jason answered.

“What happened when you arrived”, Rachel asked?

“I quickly looked through the window; I wanted to make sure that she was there”. “That’s when I saw Laura Spencer holding a gun on Elizabeth and the diner”, Jason said.

“What did you do”, Rachel asked?

“After I saw that Mac was there and talking to her; I went around back and came in from the kitchen”, Jason said.

“What did you do once you were inside”, Rachel asked?

“Mac was talking to Laura; trying to get her to give up and give him the gun”. “While he did that; I moved up behind her so that I would be in a position to get the gun away from her”. “Then Mac distracted her by getting her to look away; and I took the gun away from her”.

“Did Mrs. Spencer say anything after you got the gun away from her”, Rachel asked?

“She called Elizabeth names and threatened her again”, Jason said.

“Nothing further for this witness your honor”, Rachel said.

“Mr. Morgan; did you have a gun when you disarmed Mrs. Spencer”, Holmes asked?

“No I did not”, Jason answered.

“How do you feel about Mrs. Spencer”, Holmes asked?

“I feel that she has lost touch with life”. “And she wants to live in her own reality where she’s right and everyone else is wrong about everything”. “She saw the reports; Commissioner Scorpio let her read them, but she refuses to face the truth”, Jason said.

“And what is the truth Mr. Morgan”, Holmes asked?

“That Lucky was being beaten to death at one end of the park while at the other end of the park; Elizabeth was being sexually assaulted”, Jason said.

“Nothing further your honor”, Holmes said.

“You’re excused Mr. Morgan”, the judge said.

“The people call NCIS Special Agent Gibbs”, Rachel said.

Gibbs walked to the stand carrying a couple of files…

“Raise your right hand. Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God”, the clerk said?

“I do”, Jethro said.

“Please spell your name for the court”, the clerk asked?

“Leroy Jethro Gibbs; L-e-r-o-y J-e-t-h-r-o G-i-b-b-s”, Gibbs said and spelled.

“Please be seated”, the clerk said.

“Agent Gibbs; why are you here in Port Charles”? “There is no military matter involved in this case”, Rachel said.

“I’m here because my investigation led me here”, Gibbs said.

“What investigation would that be”, Rachel asked?

“The investigation of how Elizabeth Hardy was taken from a hospital in Bensonherst”, New York, Gibbs said.

“Who are you investigation as a part of your investigation”, Rachel asked?

“Deke Mattinson, Joe Scully, Diana Webber, and Georgia Hansen”, Gibbs answered.

“How did you get involved in this case Agent Gibbs”, Rachel asked?

“I am Elizabeth Hardy’s godfather”. “I got involved in this case because of Diana Webber and her associates”, Gibbs said.

“What associates”, Rachel asked?

“College students who worked for Joe Scully selling drugs”, Gibbs said.

“Did you find out why she was involved with these men”, Rachel asked?

“She wanted them to do a job for her”, Gibbs said.

“What job”, Rachel asked?

“She paid them to attack Elizabeth that night in the park”, Gibbs said.

“The night that Lucky Spencer died”, Rachel asked? “Was Lucky Spencer supposed to die that night”?

“Yes; that night”. “No he wasn’t”, Gibbs said.

“Who was”, Rachel asked?

“Elizabeth was”, Gibbs said. “Lucky was fatally wounded because he was trying to get to the other end of the park to help his friend”.

“What else did you find out”, Rachel asked?

“That she was involved in the shooting of Elizabeth Hardy at the No Name; as well as the other attempts on Elizabeth’s life”, Gibbs said.

“Nothing further for this witness your honor”, Rachel said.

“Agent Gibbs; do you know if my client was really responsible”, Holmes asked?

“Yes; she and her partner”, Gibbs said.

“Who was her partner”, the judge asked?

“We’ve proved that it was Sarah Webber McKay”, Gibbs told the judge.

The entire courtroom was shocked. Why would Steve and Audrey Hardy’s other granddaughter try to kill her sister the wondered?

“Has Mrs. Webber McKay been arrested”, Holmes asked?

“Yes she has; she is being held in a secure holding cell at the WSB”, Gibbs said.

“Nothing further”, Holmes said.

“Everyone; we will adjourn for today”, the judge said.

“Will do boss”, McGee said.

“So what did her highness want”, Robert asked?

“To see Deke”, Jethro said.

“Did she say why”, Robert asked as Anna walked in?

“No”, Jethro said. “So I told her no”.

“Yes”, Gibbs replied.

“Why”, Anna asked?

“So that she’ll slip up and tell me what she knows”, Jethro said.

“What did that bastard Gibbs want”, Diana spat?

“None of your damned business mother”, Sarah said.

“You’ll be happy to know Sarah; that everyone knows about your involvement in all of the attempts on Elizabeth’s life”, Laura said.

“What”, both Sarah and Diana said?

“Oh yes; Agent Gibbs told the entire courtroom, while on the stand that he had proof that you were my partner in the whole thing”, Laura told Sarah.

Sarah stayed silent.




Chapter 48



“Are you nervous”, Jason asked?

“No; I will only be telling the truth”, Elizabeth said.

“I know”. “But I think Holmes is saving all the badgering for you”, Jason said.

“I’m not worried”, Elizabeth said.

“Call your next witness Ms. Owens”, the judge said.

“The people call Elizabeth Hardy to the stand”, Rachel said.

“We had gone to dinner at Kelly’s and a movie; then we were on our way to my Grams house”, Elizabeth said.

“Who is we”, Rachel asked?

“Emily Quartermaine, Lucky Spencer and Nik Cassadine”, Elizabeth said.

“Why were you walking through the park”, Rachel asked?

“It was shorter than walking all the way around the park”, Elizabeth said. “I had a curfew”.

“Did the other three have an objection to going through the park”, Rachel asked?

“No they didn’t”, Elizabeth said.

“What happened next”, Rachel asked?

“We were halfway to the middle of the park when 6 men grabbed us”, Elizabeth said.

“What happened”, Rachel asked?

“3 took Lucky and Nik and dragged them back the way that we had come from”. “The other three made Emily and I go to the other end of the park”, Elizabeth said shaking.

“Did you know what was happening to Lucky and Nik”, Rachel asked?

“Do you know where you were taken to”, Rachel asked?

“All I remember is that it was really cold”, Elizabeth said.

“Did Lucky know that you weren’t attracted to him”, Holmes asked?

“Yes he did”, Elizabeth said.

In that moment, Nik knew that if he didn’t do as Jason demanded, his mother would die. He couldn’t lose his mother. He now wished that he’d never met Elizabeth Hardy.

“Alright”, Nik said. “But you leave my mother alone”.

“Only if you tell the truth”, Jason said. “And know this; I will have a gun aimed at your mother the whole time you are on the stand”.

“I wasn’t surprised that the DA planned to call Nik”, Roy said. “I will be surprised if he actually shows up though”.

“He will if he doesn’t want to spend some time in jail”, Bobbie said.

Nik knew that if he didn’t tell the truth, Jason would kill his mother.

“Yes I do”, Nik said.

“Did Diana contact you about the attack that night in the park”, Rachel asked?

“Yes she did”, Nik said.

“What did she want you to do”, Rachel asked?

“She wanted me to hire some men for her”, Nik said.

“What did she want these men to do”, Rachel asked?

“To kill Elizabeth”, Nik said.

“But that wasn’t what happened was it”, Rachel asked?

“No”, Nik said.

“Did you change their orders”, Rachel asked?

“Yes I did”, Nik said.

“I told them to kill Lucky and Emily; and kidnap Elizabeth”, Nik said.

“Where were they supposed to take Elizabeth to”, Rachel asked?

“Cassadine Island off of Greece”, Nik said.

“Would Elizabeth been allowed to leave”, Rachel asked?

“No she would not have been allowed to ever leave”, Nik said.

“What about her family”, Rachel asked?

“They were supposed to believe that she was dead”, Nik said. “There was to be a body placed in the park that would be identified as Elizabeth”. “They never would have known that Elizabeth was really alive”.

“Why did you want Elizabeth kidnapped”, Rachel asked?

“Because she is mine”, Nik said simply.

“Why do you think that she is yours”, Rachel asked?

“Because she just is”, Nik said.

“Moving on… Did you know that your mother was planning on killing Elizabeth”, Rachel asked?

“No I did not”, Nik said. “But I found out after the first attempt”.

“How”? “And why did you not come forward”, Rachel asked?

“I found out from her partner”, Nik said. “And I didn’t come forward because at that point I knew that Elizabeth would never come to me so I figured that she deserved to die”.
